In 1988, our founder, Scott Reall, began his journey as a Senior Wellness Director at the YMCA. Tasked with assessing and prescribing exercise programs, Scott quickly saw that physical fitness alone couldn't address the deeper issues many people were facing. Secretly battling his own struggles with anxiety and depression, Scott realized that true transformation required more than just self-help; it required a higher power.

A pivotal moment came when a pastor from Chicago introduced Scott to "Power to Choose," a book that rooted the twelve steps in Christ's teachings. Through this, Scott found a spiritual path and discovered the healing power of Jesus Christ. This revelation shaped the foundation of our organization, leading Scott to integrate the teachings of Christ into a uniquely transformative process designed to heal both spiritually and emotionally.

At our core, we believe that Jesus is not just any higher power, but the essential source of transformation. Our mission is inclusive, serving people from all walks of life, regardless of their faith background. We are dedicated to creating a Christ-centered environment that welcomes everyone, fostering healing and human connection without an agenda of conversion.

Through our various programs, such as Journey to Freedom, Journey of  Transformation, and Journey to a New Beginning we embrace the modern understanding of mind, body, and soul integration through a process of self examination with Christ.  This holistic approach has allowed us to positively impact lives, helping individuals find their way to emotional and spiritual well-being.

At Restore we believe change is a process that takes repeated steps in the right direction over time, within supportive community. All of our group curricula stand alone as transformative experiences, but the Journey small group series is best experienced within our strategic track.

We recommend starting the adventure with Journey to Freedom. On this expedition participants are guided towards the essential element for change, intrinsic motivation. They will grow in self-awareness by taking an intimate look at their life with God and others. This initiates transitioning from contemplating change to readiness for action.

Subseqently, Journey to a New Beginning addresses the pervasive struggle of unresolved loss and grief, which is often hidden from conscious awareness. This piece guides participants through a process of discovery, communication, and closure, within a safe environment where vulnerability is embraced for healing.

Lastly, Journey of Transformation delves deeper into our personal narratives. Participants begin to understand how their unique paradigms were formed and how limiting mindsets can be overcome. The unique combination of neuroscience and spirituality has shown to have profound influence on many lives.

The Journey series provides an opportunity for participants to create community and do life together with diverse and supportive friendships in a safe and inclusive environment. Other supplemental content from the Journey series is also available and can be great additions in your growth journey.

Scott emphasizes that restoring lives requires a power greater than oneself, which is essentially Christ’s role in their programs. His unwavering belief is that the organization could present a distinct and transformative image of Christ to the world, one that promotes healing and betterment of all participants irrespective of their backgrounds.

His aspiration is for the organization to continue providing a safe, inclusive space where spiritual and emotional healing can occur.

The future of Restore Small Groups includes the introduction of retreats, and the digitization of our resources so that we can reach more people.
